Tbilisi to Tbilisi: Explore Armenia

Day 01

Tbilisi – Yerevan

We leave Georgia for Armenia. After we cross the border we will photograph the Unesco World Heritage site the Monastery of Haghpat. In the afternoon, we will drive to Lake Sevan then onto Noraduz Cemetery, an almost 1000 years old graveyard with interesting tombstones called “Kachkars” meaning “Cross Stones” with lace work designs and storytelling reliefs.

Day 02

Yerevan

Early in the morning, we will go to the “Cascade”, an 400 step stairway built on the side of a hill offering a great view, to photograph the 2 peaks of the Mt. Ararat with Yerevan in the foreground. Return to the hotel for breakfast then visit to the Genocide Museum. In the afternoon, we will drive to Garni where we will shoot the Garni Temple built in the 1st century, in Greco-Roman style which is the only Greco-Roman building not only in Armenia but in the whole territory of the former Soviet Union. Our next stop will be “symphony of stones”, an impressive basalt column formations along the side of a river gorge. We will also visit Geghard Monastery before returning to Yerevan.

Day 03

Yerevan

In the morning, we will photograph the Church of Khor Virap located right at the foot of the Mt Ararat, one of the most important churches for the whole Armenian world, as it was built at the site where St Gregory the illuminator was imprisoned. Our next stop will be the Manuscript Museum where you will see thousands of old manuscripts. Symetrical architectural shapes and elements inside the museum are an interesting subject of matter for photography. In the afternoon, we will photograph the Cathedral in Eicmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the ruins of Zvartnos Temple built in the 7th century, with the Mt Ararat in the background. We will also photograph the city’s main cathedral dedicated to St. Gregory the illuminator, “Surb Grigor Lusavorich”. It is considered to be the largest Armenian church in the world.

Day 04

Yerevan – Tbilisi

In the morning, we will have time to visit and photograph the market area in Yerevan before driving back to Tbilisi.

Day 05

Depart Tbilisi

On time transfer to the International airport to connect with flight to International destinations.

Important Note Regarding Airport Transfer Service:

The airport transfers are included only on the official start day of the tour (June 24th) and on the official departure day of the tour (June 28th), otherwise, guests can either take a cab or we can arrange airport transfer service at an additional cost for 1 to 4 people.
