Sahara Itinerary

Day 01

Casablanca – High Atlas – Ouarzazate

(By surface 400km/6.5 hrs)

After breakfast you depart for Ouarzazate over the High Atlas Mountains through the Tichka Pass. Stop to shoot Berber villages tucked away in the mountain side. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, lunch will be served.

In the afternoon, you will photograph Aït Benhaddou, one of the world’s most magnificent Kasbahs, a setting that has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator. You will return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 02

Ouarzazate – Todra Gorges – Erfoud

(By surface 300 kms/4 hrs)

After breakfast, you will depart for Erfoud along the road of 1000 kasbahs. On route, you will visit the beautiful Kasbahs of Taourirt and Tifoulout, and the Dades Valley. You will continue through the picturesque Todra River Valley which makes for a beautiful journey towards the magnificent, colossal Todra Gorges (600 feet) where you can have lunch. In the afternoon, you will finish the drive to the dunes. You will enjoy the evening on the edge of the dunes at the Auberge.

Day 03: 16 Oct 16 (Sunday)           

Erfoud – Sahara Dunes

In the morning, you can capture the sunrise over the Sahara. This day will be a full day at the dunes and shooting the desert villages. In the afternoon, you will set off by camel for a 2-hour trek out to the oasis where you will spend the night in Berber tents.

Day 04

Erfoud – Fes

(By surface)

After an early breakfast and the camel trek out of the dunes, you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards Fes. Half way, stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Fes.

Day 05

Depart Fes – Casablanca

(By surface 4 hrs)

After an early breakfast, you drive back to Casablanca to catch your international flight.
