Songkran Festival Extension

Day 01

Arrive Bangkok – Ayutthaya

You arrive in Bangkok (Thailand) around noon and will be transferred to Ayutthaya. Later in the afternoon, you will visit several historical sites including Wat Mahathat where the famous Buddha head is lodged in a Bodhi tree. You will spend the night in a 4-star boutique hotel on the river in Ayutthaya.

Day 02

Ayutthaya

The festival begins today. First you will visit a local temple to photograph the traditional side of Songkran – washing Buddha and offering food and flowers to earn merit and ask for blessings. Later there will be a parade with people and floats celebrating the cultural traditions of each ethnic group. In the afternoon you will visit several areas where they are throwing water. Even the elephants get in on the fun. You will get wet but it’s hot this time of year so it’s a fun experience. Just dress to get wet and bring a cover for your camera. You will travel back to Bangkok later this afternoon and spend the night in a 4-star hotel on the Chao Phraya River.

Day 03

Ayutthaya – Bangkok

Another day of festivities. In the morning you will visit two of the most famous temples, Wat Pho and Wat Arun to photograph people and the Songkran temple activities. People will be dressed their best as they strive to ensure good things for the new year. Pagodas are made out of sand to symbolize the building of temples. In the afternoon you will visit Silom Road to witness one of the largest water fights from the safety of the Sky Train platform overhead. The craziness is on the street below and you are welcome to join them but you also have the option to watch from a ‘relatively’ dry perch above. You will spend the night in a 4-star hotel near the airport.

Day 04

Depart Bangkok

On time transfer to the International airport to connect with flight to International destinations.
