South India Photo Immersion Tour

A Different Perspective is pleased to announce that its South India Photo Immersion Tour led by Manoj Sharma, the guide for many well-known western photographers has already sold out.

Manoj has been leading trekking and cultural photo trips to areas of Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and of course India for over 25 years.

Manoj visited the USA two weeks ago and we had a chance to discuss this tour in depth along with others we are collaborating on such as Arunachal Pradesh with Nagaland and the future Kashmir and Ladakh Tour.

I asked Manoj, “What makes his South India tour different from others South India photo tours”?

– Photograph the silk weavers of Kanchi in their homes with looms
– A chance to shoot the night ceremony at the Great Shree Meenakshi Temple (by smart phones!)
– Photos of musicians and singers in the pillared halls in the Great Temple of Madurai (by smart phones!)
– A visit to the tea workers houses in Munnar
– On the ground access to shoot village life in the Kerala Backwaters
– A chance to photograph a family preparing a typical South India meal along with dinner
– Shoot the Elephant Festival
– Take photos at the Kalamandalam classrooms for the performing arts school
– The opportunity to photograph the Theyyam Festival in the temple
– Street photography in Mumbai
– Shoot in the Dharavi slum area of Mumbai

South India Photo Immersion Tour with Manoj Sharma is a superb example of A Different Perspective tour.

The Personal Nepal of Mani Lama

The Personal Nepal of Mani Lama
A Special Photo and Cultural Tour in The Aftermath Of The Earthquake
Date October 28 – November 12, 2015

  • Now is the time to commit to go to Nepal!
As Nepal stabilizes after the basic earthquake recovery work is completed, each foreign visitor will be of extraordinary value to the economic recovery that is so badly needed.
  • A Different Perspective has the unique ability to create a one-of-a-kind photography and cultural trip to Nepal that will be a lifetime experience and simultaneously create badly needed moral and financial support for this amazing land at the time they need it most.
  • Mani Lama, widely recognized and the most significant indigenous photographer in Nepal will lead our trip. He has been capturing the soul and essence of Nepal on film and digitally for almost 40 years. No one knows Nepal photographically better than Mani.

Because of the special circumstances Mani and our team in Katmandu are putting together a tour like no other:

  • Included in the cost of each trip will be a special $500 contribution to one of the most important local funds to guarantee that the most crucial work is done. We are working on this right now and will announce the name shortly.
  • Also included in this trip will be a special day of service when all participants will spend the day working with a local not-for-profit foundation delivering services to the local community. Details also to be announced soon.
  • We have arranged special access whereby we will meet with local civic leaders who will update us on the status of the situation and the recovery, what is needed and what steps are being taken.

We are currently reconfiguring the itinerary for our previously planned Nepal trip to include the most important iconic stops with the greatest photographic and cultural importance wherever possible and add new locations that will provide participants with significant first hand value in terms of understanding what has happened in Nepal and bring you into direct contact with the people of Nepal right now.
As is our practice, we will need a minimum of six for this tour and the maximum number will be eight. You will stay in 4-5 star or best available accommodations and most importantly there will be absolutely no concern for personal safety, health or comfort. To learn more about this very intimate and meaningful opportunity to make a difference call me soon at 415-331-3791 or email me at teri@differentperspectivetours.com
Hope to speak with you soon.
Best Regards,
