Nagaland And Arunachal Pradesh Discovery Tour
This is a scheduled Tour. New Dates for 2018 will be up soon!
Note: This trip is intended for experienced travelers and photographers. It includes visits to very remote areas and some accommodations, while the best available, are rustic. You will have private accommodations every evening and tasty meals adjusted for western palates.
Over the last year or so, some of the most experienced and sophisticated photo travelers have been whispering about Nagaland and its incredible potential for photography and cultural exploration. At A Different Perspective, we’ve been listening closely, and as a result, offer one of the early photo tours revealing this unfolding part of India, just at the right moment.
Nagaland is tucked away in the far Northeast part of India. Well into the 1950’s it was a virtually unexplored wild area. The Indian Government’s Northeast Frontier Agency only allowed the first visitors, including Indian citizens, to travel there in 1996. Nagaland is made up of 16 ethnic groups that are not part of the traditional Indian bloodlines, including peoples from Mongolian stock and the descendants of wild Burmese tribes as we will discover on this incredible 14-day discovery tour.3
While the term “amazing” is used far too much, sometimes even by us, this trip is truly the essence of amazing
We have been very fortunate to partner with Yatesh Bahugana to lead and guide us. Yatesh has thoroughly explored Nagaland and is one of the most knowledgeable leaders there. He is also one of the most sought after photo guides in India with over 30 years of experience.
Between 6 and 8 photographers will experience two authentic festivals, one celebrating the harvest and the other an ancient religious ritual. You will see ceremonies, games, and feasts. We will explore fortified hilltop villages, savannah grasslands, tea plantations, highland rivers, personally engage with local people and much more as we witness these indigenous groups grappling with both modern and traditional civilizations. The opportunities to photograph people, landscapes and architecture are too vast to enumerate here.
Even though we are in remote areas, all accommodations are in comfortable hotels and lodges that offer good beds and hot showers. All meals are well prepared and tasty, a combination of Indian, local and western-style preparations.
This tour is only for adventurous photo travelers who have a passion for new and very special places—before the tourists show up—and can adapt to changes at a moments notice to take advantage of unforeseen opportunities. If this is you, A Different Perspective invites you to be one of the first to unlock the secrets of Nagaland.
