Epic Bhutan: Buddhist Culture

Please join this photo immersive trip to the peaceful kingdom of Bhutan being led by National Geographic photographer Abhi Hajela. Abhi is a frequent visitor to Bhutan and loves the Buddhist spirit that is found in the people, the stunning landscape and rice paddies of Punakha in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain range, the majestic temples where pilgrims pray and novice nun’s chant the day away.

This bespoke 12 day tour will give the photo enthusiast an opportunity to capture daily life in rural villages, and in the little changed cities of Thimphu and Paro. We will walk the trail that leads to the iconic Tiger’s Nest stupa.  No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a soak in a hot stone bath, a meditation session and numerous carefully curated private photo sessions with monks and nun’s who will bless our travels.

​This photography rich trip is geared towards those that love to document people, landscape and architecture. Non photographers are welcome and this trip is suitable for people in generally good health and acclimation to the high altitude has not presented itself as a problem in past tours. We intend on providing participants with a unique deep dive into the culture of this country where Gross National Happiness permeates the way of life.
